I'M DOING A NEW THING (2021 Single release)
About.
Despite many years as a vocalist and/or keyboard player for many different bands ranging from country, funk, jazz and blues, Broda launched her solo career as a performing singer-songwriter after teaching herself to play guitar, (an instrument she had only previously just dabbled in,) adding to her roster as a multi-instrumentalist in the Fall of 2006. In the mere two years to follow, she did her time in open mics anywhere she could find them, premiered under her solo stage name at Buffalo Creek Guitar Company's grand opening, and became a popular regular performer at other local venues such as Baine's Books & Coffee, The Madhatter, Uptown Coffee Cafe, and Mulligan's Sports Grille, In 2008, she released her debut solo CD, "Spiral Staircase" and was branching out quickly through Virginia from Martinsville to Blackstone, Portsmouth to Winchester.

Since that time, she has toured the east coast garnering many festival performances including numerous performances at the Heart of Virginia Festival and Railroad Festival. Broda was also selected for three consecutive showcase performances at the 2008, 2009, and 2010 Indiegrrl Women in the Arts Conferences in Spencer, VA, Nashville, TN, and Knoxville, TN, and a performance at the 2009 Indiegrrl Music Festival in Jonica Gap, GA, when Indigrrl Board Member exclaimed, "Broda has a voice like butter . . . hot, steamy butter."
Broda also landed three solo showcases at the 2009, 2010, and 2012 Dewey Beach Music Conference in Dewey Beach, DE, a highly anticipated independent music conference of independent musicians and music industry professionals from around the country. She was also among the first performers selected to perform for Scottsville's Inaugural Rhythm on the River Summer Series whose promotional blogger, Joey Vegas, said of her, “Broda has a voice that will melt you. I came across her by accident...and OMG what a voice. Her album “Spiral Staircase” is a must have. The song “Daddy oh Daddy” really pulls on my heartstrings... She is a true GREAT songwriter with a voice.”
Broda has also been featured several times on Women of Substance Radio, Radio Crystal Blue, WestSideWill's Unsigned Artist Feature, WomensRadio, and Tennessee's WDVX - Writer's Block after co-host Dennis Double requested a CD declaring, "You, young lady, need to be on the air."
In January 2009, her original, "Don't Sell Yourself Short" was a selected song winner for O.G. Magazine's Song Contest which won her features in the 2009 Winter and Spring Editions of O.G. Magazine based in Hollywood, CA. The song was also included in the O.G. Magazine, Vol. I Compilation CD distributed at fashion shows throughout L.A.. Two months later, her original, "Disappear Without A Trace" was selected for inclusion in the 2009 Indiegrrl Compilation CD. She was also a Squeaky Wheel Tour performer in 2009.

By December 2010, Broda had been selected for a licensing agreement with Eos Music, and was a signed Eos Artist by January 2010. The accolades continued in 2010 as her songs, "I'm Sayin' Goodbye" and "For You", both advanced to the semi-final round of AcousticRoundtable.com's Song Contest. In August, Broda also received an Honorable Mention in BILLBOARD's 17th Annual World Song Contest for her jazzy blues original, "For You" (single released August 2012 on CDbaby.com). A mere month later, "For You" also garnered Broda a slot as a finalist in WNRN's Tenth Annual Songwriting Contest at Rapunzel's in Lovingston, VA.
Shortly after releasing her next single, "Runaway" in commemoration of her wedding day in 2013, Broda garnered another showcase selection at the 2013 Dewey Beach Music Conference and recruited a bass & drum duo to round out her sound.
As the new trio prepared to launch their new sound, Broda was surprised to discover she was pregnant. During the pregnancy, she underwent emergency surgery and was also diagnosed with Stage III melanoma. She spent the next 2 years battling cancer while simultaneously becoming a first-time mother. This, along with the after effects of surgery and radiation, affected Broda's guitar playing ability and required intense physical therapy to meet the goal of getting it back.
Broda briefly played her guitar again for the first time on November 8, 2015. While she continued to gain strength and adjust to playing with the newfound disability, she remained in the shadows discreetly recording songs (with intent to release when the time comes,) writing new songs, releasing another new single, and adding more instruments to her multi-instrumentalist roster. She vowed to return to the stage in full capacity and held true to her promise, making a triumphant return to the Heart of Virginia Festival stage in September 2022. She came back to HoVA again in 2023 making appearances on two different stages playing solo and swapping songs with some long-time musician friends from the area.
In November 2023, Broda made her impromptu debut with an ukulele on stage at the 2023 Virginia Ukapalooza in Glen Allen, VA, learning the chords to one of her originals on the instrument a mere fifteen minutes before being called to the stage. The response was so positive, she has continued to practice her skills on the ukulele while recently working to add the U-Bass to her instrumental arsenal.
With her unceasing passion for performance, Broda is determined to find the balance of a hectic life as a music teacher, parent, farmer, herbalist, beekeeper, outdoor hobbyist, musical performer and recording artist. She is intent on sharing her music through performance and recording releases on a regular basis once again.

In short, Broda is "bringin' it back!"
